Engineering Technician III - Kwajalein Atoll - 3693

This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll, Roi-Namur in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits of this unique location include free housing, three meals a day and potential for overseas tax incentives. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Assist engineering staff with operations, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair and modification of C-band and Ka-band radar systems.
  • Assist with equipment design modifications, including fabrication, drawings and testing.
  • Preform daily calibrations as required.
  • Perform necessary diagnostics and repair of radar equipment.  
  • Maintain maintenance schedules, spare parts, and equipment inventory.
  • Support day-to-day operations with the Radar Operations Director to meet 24x7 radar mission requirements.
  • Perform occasional shift work to support operational tasking.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills 

  • Able to maintain & update schematics and manuals.
  • Excellent working understanding of engineering practices including but not limited to: 
    • Soldering 
    • Circuit board repairs
    • Willing to learn System and component level troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and other RF test equipment.
  • General understanding of RF and Microwave receivers and transmitters.
  • Willingness and physical ability to carry equipment weighing 50 lbs.
  • Familiarity and experience with Allen Bradley control systems and radar antenna servo control systems. desired not required.

Required Experience 

  • Associate’s degree in electronics or a two-year technical school, or equivalent military experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of electronics related experience.
  • High Power Radar knowledge and experience in some or all of the following: transmitters, receivers, digital systems or operations is desired. 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • Climber II Certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire (local training and testing provided).
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • This position is unaccompanied. 
  • Willingness and physical ability to work at moderate heights, up to 100 ft.
