Robotics & Drone Engineering Teacher

Now Hiring: Robotics & Drone Engineering Teacher

Full-Time | Grades 3–12 | River Tech School – Post Falls, Idaho
Preferred Start Date: August 2025

About the Role

River Tech School is seeking a full-time teacher with deep hands-on expertise in robotics and drone engineering, and the flexibility to teach core subjects across grades 3–12. This role emphasizes practical experience in designing, building, programming, repairing, and enhancing humanoid robots and drones, while also contributing to a well-rounded educational experience that includes math, English, science, and social studies.

We’re a school first—so a passion for working with students is essential. Whether you’ve led a classroom, coached a robotics team, or mentored youth through church or community programs, your ability to connect with kids matters just as much as your technical skill.

Key Responsibilities

Robotics & Drone Instruction

  • Design, build, program, maintain, and repair robotic and drone systems using microcontrollers, sensors, servos, and related tools
  • Lead hands-on student projects using platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and beginner-friendly coding environments (e.g., Python, Scratch)
  • Support extracurricular activities such as robotics clubs, drone competitions, or maker workshops
  • Stay current with industry advancements and bring emerging robotics and drone applications into the classroom

General Classroom Teaching

  • Teach a variety of core subjects in a small-class environment (1:10 ratio), based on school needs and your strengths
  • Adapt instruction to individual student pacing and maintain a structured, engaging classroom environment
  • Develop lesson plans, track progress, and communicate clearly with families and colleagues

Candidate Profile

Required

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with robotics, drones, and CAD (designing, building, programming, or maintaining systems)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher. Equivalent qualifications—such as military service, industry certifications, or proven entrepreneurial experience—will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Prior experience working with children or youth (in any setting: church, tutoring, camps, Civil Air Patrol, scouting, etc.)
  • Comfort teaching across disciplines and age groups in an engaging and age-appropriate manner
  • Alignment with River Tech’s Christian values and mission to develop body, soul, and spirit

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with humanoid robots, drones, and CAD platforms (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, VEX, NAO, Pepper, DJI, DroneKit, ArduPilot, ROS, Tinkercad, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Prior experience in teaching, mentoring, or running robotics/drones clubs or camps
