Role Summary
The Senior Technical Designer/Patternmaker plays a critical role in bridging the gap between design and production at House of Holmes. This position focuses on the development and execution of high-quality patterns, technical specifications, and prototypes for a diverse range of cut-and-sew products. The ideal candidate possesses expert-level patternmaking skills, an eye for fit and construction, and deep knowledge of garment engineering. This is a hands-on, detail-focused role contributing directly to the success of client products through technical precision and creative problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Patternmaking
- Create accurate patterns from sketches, reference samples, and tech packs using Gerber AccuMark or equivalent CAD software.
- Translate design concepts into production-ready patterns while considering fabric behavior, fit, and construction methods.
- Support sample development by collaborating with samplemakers, providing technical input and ensuring design intent is executed.
- Review and interpret tech packs, measurements, and construction details to ensure technical clarity.
Prototyping & Fit Development
- Participate in fittings and apply corrections to patterns based on fit sessions and client feedback.
- Reduce the need for multiple rounds of sampling through expert analysis and up-front pattern precision.
- Ensure each prototype aligns with aesthetic expectations and production requirements.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect initial samples and production-ready patterns to ensure alignment with technical specifications and standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot potential construction or fit issues prior to full-scale production.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, and Client Services teams to ensure seamless handoff of approved patterns and specifications.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to internal stakeholders to support manufacturing success.
Process Optimization
- Contribute to refining pattern development workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new tools, techniques, and construction solutions in the field of patternmaking.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Patternmaking, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in patternmaking or technical design within a cut-and-sew manufacturing setting.
Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of garment construction, pattern engineering, and textile performance.
- Proficiency in patternmaking software such as Gerber AccuMark, Adobe Illustrator, and CAD systems.
- Deep understanding of grading, fit standards, and industrial sewing processes.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $47,500.00 - $51,500.00 per year
