The State of Connecticut, Office of Early Childhood (OEC), is now accepting applications from experienced individuals for two Accounts Examiner positions, within the Program Integrity Unit of the Division of Finance and Fiscal/Administrative Services. These positions will be the first of the newly established unit. 


 

The Program Integrity Unit is seeking an energetic, self-starter with excellent research, communication, and Microsoft Office skills, who works well independently or in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in account reconciliations, financial analysis, and auditing procedures.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week
  • First Shift
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Location: Hartford, CT
  • Hybrid/telework opportunities available

THE ROLE

The Program Integrity Unit will focus first on Internal and External Audit to help ensure sound fiscal management and stewardship of funds. The Unit will also concentrate on compliance, quality control and assurance, investigation and recoveries, risk identification, and other tasks that ensure sound practices and accountability for the agency and our stakeholders.


 

The Accounts Examiner, currently under the direct supervision of the Fiscal Administrative Manager 2, will be conducting performance audits and other examinations of external and internal departmental programs, functions, and activities. The Accounts Examiner will be involved in reviewing grantee audit reports and grant calculation forms for accuracy and compliance with state and federal laws, program requirements, and single audit requirements. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the resolution of audit issues with grantees
  • Participating in conducting internal and external financial audits by reviewing internal records and reports filed by municipalities, and non-profit organizations for the purpose of ensuring compliance with grant agreements, statutes and federal laws, or other regulatory requirements
  • Other related duties as required
