
Mobile STEAM Lab Specialist
Position Summary
The Mobile STEAM Lab Specialist will support the Mobile STEAM Lab Lead Specialist in delivering engaging and high-quality STEAM education to K-5 students and other partners and age groups that book the Mobile STEAM Lab. The main role of this position focuses on facilitating in-class hands-on STEAM activities that align with the programming offered on the Mobile STEAM Lab. The Mobile STEAM Lab Specialist plays a vital role in connecting classroom learning with mobile experience, ensuring consistency, engagement, and educational values. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop (when needed), maintain, and facilitate interactive, age-appropriate STEAM activities in schools and community-based locations that complement the Mobile STEAM Truck curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Mobile STEAM Lab Lead Specialist to ensure seamless integration between in-class and mobile lab experiences.
- Assist with setup, organization, and delivery of all Mobile STEAM Lab visits/events.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management techniques to maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Work alongside the Mobile STEAM Lab Lead Specialist to manage budgeting needs, provide a program strategy, meet objectives, and manage scheduling effectively.
- Provide timely feedback on project plans when needed.
- Provide student and teacher feedback to help evaluate and improve programming.
- Maintain and organize STEAM supplies and materials used for Mobile STEAM Lab activities.
- Attend team meetings and planning sessions as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with concentration in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience working with K-5 students in a classroom or education setting.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Knowledge of STEAM programming, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and/or other related topics.
- Ability to learn new activities to deliver for our K-5 students.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments to meet mutual goals.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Willingness to travel within Southeastern Michigan and to work evenings and/or weekends as required.
Essential Requirements
- This position requires registration as a member of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
- Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional computer programs such as Salesforce.
- Demonstrated skills in creative thinking, problem solving and innovation.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
