Job Responsibilities Include: 

1. Preventive Care and Education

  • Conduct regular dental check-ups and cleanings to prevent cavities and other dental issues.
  • Educate parents and children on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and diet for optimal dental health.
  • Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help prevent tooth decay.

2. Diagnosis and Treatment of Oral Health Issues

  • Examine and diagnose oral conditions such as tooth decay, gum disease, and malocclusion (misaligned teeth).
  • Develop treatment plans for issues like cavities, injuries, and developmental abnormalities.
  • Perform treatments, including fillings, crowns, and root canals, adapted to children’s needs.

3. Early Orthodontic Evaluation and Intervention

  • Assess and monitor the development of children's teeth and jaw structure.
  • Identify potential orthodontic concerns early and provide or refer for interceptive orthodontic care.
  • Provide space maintainers and other appliances to guide the alignment of permanent teeth.

4. Behavior Management and Patient Comfort

  • Use child-friendly language and techniques to create a comforting environment.
  • Employ behavior management techniques to reduce anxiety, such as "tell-show-do," positive reinforcement, and distraction.
  • Use sedation or anesthesia when necessary and safe to manage more complex or extensive treatments.

5. Emergency Care

  • Treat dental injuries, such as fractured or knocked-out teeth.
  • Provide urgent care for issues like infections, severe toothaches, and soft tissue injuries.

6. Special Needs and Pediatric Care Adaptations

  • Work with children who have physical, developmental, or behavioral conditions requiring specialized care.
  • Tailor treatment plans and techniques to accommodate each child’s specific needs.

7. Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers, such as pediatricians, orthodontists, and oral surgeons, when necessary for comprehensive care.

Job Requirements:

Valid Nevada license to practice pediatric dentistry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for working with children and creating positive dental experiences
Dedication to continuous learning and professional development
