Role Summary:

We are expanding internationally and seeking an experienced, self-driven and visionary AI Grant Writer, to secure strategic funding across global markets. You’ll lead the research, development, and submission of high-impact proposals that fuel our momentum in AI, computing infrastructure, and emerging technologies.

In this role, you’ll craft technically sound, persuasive narratives, build partnerships with funding bodies, and translate complex ideas into winning proposals that align with Vertical Data’s mission. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, strategy, operations, and communications teams to align proposals with internal goals and enhance competitiveness.
  • Global Funding Intelligence: Monitor regulatory trends and funding ecosystems (e.g., Horizon Europe, IDB Lab, UNDP, Gates Foundation, NVIDIA Inception) to shape grant strategies.
  • Opportunity Scouting: Maintain a high-visibility, organized pipeline of international grants, credits, and funding programs relevant to AI and emerging tech.
  • Proposal Development: Write compelling, technically accurate proposals tailored to funding requirements, showcasing Vertical Data’s strategic edge.
  • Pipeline Management: Track key deadlines, eligibility criteria, and progress metrics to ensure timely submissions.
  • Strategic Innovation: Develop grant-writing frameworks and practices that improve win rates and streamline documentation.
  • Technical Storytelling: Translate advanced concepts in AI and infrastructure into accessible, mission-driven proposals for diverse audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Communications, or a related field. Graduate-level research, PhD, or affiliation with a university/tech incubator is a plus.
  • Proven success securing grants in AI, HPC (high-performance computing), or deep tech — especially across global markets.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills in English. Multilingual fluency and cultural adaptability are strong assets.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and collaborate effectively with engineers and strategists.
  • Highly organized and deadline-oriented, capable of navigating remote and fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as NSF, Horizon Europe, Gates Foundation, and global accelerators.
