Extended Day Coordinator- Woodmere Elementary
JOB SUMMARY: The Extended Day Coordinator (EDC) works under the supervision of the SUN Site Manager. The EDC provides coordination of the extended day programs/activities for families and youth. In collaboration with the SUN site manager, the Extended day coordinator supports the creation of high quality programs that provide academic and enrichment opportunities for the healthy development of students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the development and implementation of SUN programs.
- Provide oversight and coordination of extended day programs and supervision of volunteers, instructors, partners, contractors and participants in collaboration with the SUN site manager. Manage SUN program in SUN Site Manager’s absence.
- Assist with training and onboarding of instructors, partners, volunteers and contractors
- Assist in assessing the needs of students and community, creating classes, conducting student registration, communicating with parents about schedules and changes, and ensure the smooth running of classes and activities.
- Create online registration for after school activities and assist with enrollment.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for participants.
- Coordinate with the school office for daily school attendance and track and monitor extended day attendance and communicate with families as needed. Complete check in/check out in coordination with SUN site manager
- Work with students needing behavioral support to create behavior plans and monitor goals for improvement.
- Coordinate data collection, documentation, filing and database maintenance in accordance with agency’s management information systems and program needs including facilitation of Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS)
- Actively develop rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Effectively communicate school and Impact NW policy, mission, values and decisions to program staff, volunteers, collaborating organizations and the community.
- Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Prep and distribute after school snacks following district guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree and/or equivalent training and a minimum of two years experience in the field of education or related human service field.
- Positive kid management and communication skills.
- Well-versed in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, including Excel and Publisher.
- Able to create attractive promotional materials, spreadsheets, and perform data entry.
- Knowledge of the Portland and local school community.
- Excellent coordinating and organizational skills including the ability to engage a broad spectrum of community members in Impact NW programs and activities.
THIS JOB ALSO REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting and extensive visual involvement
- Frequent climbing of stairs, moving throughout the building, and on feet for long periods of time, supporting students in different environments
- Ability to efficiently travel in order to perform duties and other agency related errands
- Moderate lifting
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple and varied tasks.
- Ability to communicate directly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles and cultures.
