SUMMARY:  Reporting to the Weld Shop Supervisor, the welder is responsible to operate and maintain welding tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the quality and production standards of the company.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Layout, position, align and fit components into welding fixture as instructed
  • Set up gas-shielded MIG welders and weld parts according to job specifications
  • Utilize a basic understanding of blueprints and welding symbols to complete job assignments accurately
  • Operate hand tools, clamps, and grinders to perform job tasks efficiently
  • Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including tasks completed and time spent on each task
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance welding skills and knowledge
  • Undertake other duties as needed and assigned to support team objectives

 

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One (1) year of related experience and/or training
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics, including the ability to accurately read and interpret tape measures and blueprints
  • Demonstrated proficiency in wire feed (M.I.G.) welding
  • Competence in using an oxygen/propane cutting torch
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), with a solid understanding of welding techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work order routings, safety rules, procedures, etc 
  • Willingness and ability to work any shift as required

 

Other:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything over 50 pounds will be moved with a forklift or overhead crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
