2026 Investment Banking Analyst

We’re looking to add highly motivated and resourceful junior bankers to our team in helping lead our transaction execution and marketing efforts. Shea & Company’s Analysts are key members of the team who have significant client-facing responsibilities and are involved in all aspects of deal execution across the firm’s M&A and private placement transactions.

Software is a vibrant and dynamic segment of the technology market, with products, technologies and markets constantly evolving and being redefined. Shea & Company’s clients are at the forefront of these innovations as we spend our time conducting fundamental market research, advising industry leading software companies on M&A and focusing 100% of our efforts across enterprise software. We do not expect our Analysts to join us as “industry experts” in software, but candidates for the role must be eager to learn about technology, financial analysis and the process of maximizing value for the client and their shareholders.

We’re looking for Analysts in our Boston office. The position offers a diverse set of responsibilities: executing live transactions, generating marketing and pitch materials, building financial models and creating industry thought pieces and software market maps within specific software verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Compile various financial analyses, including projection models, valuation materials and data pack
  • Assist in subsector coverage and research, as well as the creation of associated market primers
  • Prepare pitchbooks, management presentations and related materials for clients
  • Drive the execution of live engagements and the creation of new business in concert with the broader team

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate, upon joining our team, has a Bachelor’s degree and an excellent academic track record from a leading undergraduate college or university. A strong intellect, ability to work in a team environment, demonstrated analytical and communication skills, willingness to take initiative and excellent attention to detail are required. Experience in software or knowledge of the industry would is valued, as well. See below for a list of all qualifications:

  • Final year undergraduate or graduate students with strong quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Successful completion of coursework in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Superior written and oral communication ability
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Interest in technology market trends
  • Prior internship experiences in investment banking, consulting, venture capital or private equity are a plus, but not required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
