Landscape Sales & Project Manager – J.W. Townsend Landscaping

J.W. Townsend Landscaping is seeking a motivated and experienced Landscape Sales & Project Manager to join our team in Central Virginia. This role combines client relationship building, project development, and marketing outreach to help deliver high-quality landscape construction and hardscaping projects.

Responsibilities:

Client Development & Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients and industry contacts.
  • Conduct site visits and meetings to understand client goals, budget, and expectations.
  • Follow up on assigned leads and maintain ongoing client communication.
  • Focus on expanding the company’s presence in hardscaping and landscape construction.
  • Serve as the main point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services based on client needs.

Project Development & Management

  • Collaborate with clients to conceptualize projects, including design, materials, and budgeting.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, proposals, and project plans.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and internal production teams.
  • Ensure smooth project handoffs and follow through to completion.
  • Assist with invoicing and client follow-up.
  • Participate in internal meetings to stay aligned with company goals.

Marketing

  • Represent the company at community events, trade shows, and professional associations.
  • Support the creation of marketing materials and project portfolios.
  • Help identify new business opportunities through networking and outreach.
  • Share project success stories with internal teams to promote services.

Qualifications:

  • Must reside in the Central Virginia area.
  • Strong knowledge of Zone 6 and 7 plant materials.
  • Ability to communicate ideas visually.
  • Professional demeanor with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license.
  • Degree in horticulture, landscape construction, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in landscape or construction sales/management preferred.
