CNC Machinist - Lathe Set-up/Operator

Position Type: Full-Time, 1st Shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm)

Compensation: Weekly pay with monthly performance bonuses

Location: Climate-controlled facility

Role Overview:

Helix Linear Technologies is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with a specialty in Lathe operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in setting up and operating both 2 Axis and 3 Axis CNC Turning machines. This role involves not only the technical aspects of machine operation but also adherence to our stringent quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently set up CNC lathes for daily operations.
  • Operate CNC turning machinery while complying with production standards and maintaining high-quality output.
  • Program CNC machines to meet specific requirements, ensuring accuracy in parameters and measurements.
  • Perform regular inspections of produced items against blueprints, identifying and rectifying any material flaws or defects, including de-burring as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in CNC Lathe operation.
  • Proven ability to perform frequent machine setups.
  • Proficiency in operating 3 Axis CNC Turning machines.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members.
  • Knowledge of surface footage, feed rates, and the ability to calculate feeds and speeds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Experience with Haas CNC machinery.
  • Knowledge of various inspection processes, including 1st article and in-process inspections.
  • CNC Milling experience a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Standard production environment requiring prolonged standing (up to 10 hours).
  • Regular use and maintenance of small tools.
  • Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to machine coolants and oils.
  • Problem-solving skills for effective machine setup, operation and troubleshooting.
