Supervisor, Community Corrections - Probation Service Center

Hiring range: $98,176 to $117,790 ($47.20 to $56.63 per hour). Starting rate will depend on experience, education, and qualifications. Advancement opportunities exist for individuals motivated to move up within Anoka County.

Position Description

The mission of the Anoka County Community Corrections department is working to build a safer community. The department has an immediate opening for a Supervisor, Community Corrections, who will manage the Probation Service Center (PSC), providing direct supervision to a group of Senior Probation Officers and Probation Officer Assistants. The team is responsible for large volume case management, supervision of low-to-medium risk adult probation clients, and cases transferred from Anoka County to other jurisdictions.  

This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. Interviews will begin the week of September 1st, 2025, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. 

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $98,176 to $117,790 ($47.20 to $56.63 per hour).
  • 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 38: $98,176 to $137,384 ($47.20 to $66.05 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at the Anoka County Rum River Human Services Center, Building #10, located at 3300 4th Avenue N, Anoka MN 55303.
  • Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Supervisor, Community Corrections.

  • Supervise operations of the Probation Service Center, including development and implementation of policies, procedures, and evidence-based correctional practices while promoting public safety and behavior change for justice-involved clients.
  • Oversee staffing and scheduling of coverage, building management, program development, and facilitation.
  • Facilitate staff professional development, coaching, and training, complete annual performance evaluations, and administer discipline when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state mandates and licensing regulations.
  • Collaborate with other justice-system and community partners.
  • Ensure quality control of essential policies and practices.
  • Evaluate practices through collection and analysis of performance and outcome data.
  • Requires periodic after-hours on call responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with agency leaders and partners.
  • Experience with implementation and application of evidence-based correctional practices.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with the CSTS case management database.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment, correctional and detention institutions, field offices, courtrooms, offender'/clients' homes, hospitals and schools, and various community settings depending on assignment.
  • Work activities may involve contact with, and the supervision of juveniles or adults charged with major or minor criminal offenses, and/or individuals who may be hostile, dangerous, threatening, armed, and aggressive and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Consequently, some assignments may encounter stressful and physically threatening situations.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness.
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
  • Ability to detect, discern, and tolerate a wide range of scents required for safety and performance of essential duties.
  • Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills.
  • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing.
  • Physical activity may include handling/carrying equipment, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Periodic high levels of exertion in the form of self-defense, pursuit, or restraint of an individual are possible for some assignments.
  • Lifting over 100 lbs. in emergency situations.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to various law enforcement equipment depending on assignment .
  • Law enforcement equipment may include but is not limited to radios, pagers, handcuffs, first aid equipment, restraints, chemical agents, Tasers, and protective equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
  • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
  • Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, or other hazards is possible while performing essential duties.
