
Contracted Medical Doctor (Occupational Medicine Physician or Pain Management Physician)
We are seeking a board certified Physician (Occupational Medicine Physician or Pain Management Physician), licensed in Texas, to serve as a Medical Consultant for our outpatient practice specializing in workers’ compensation cases. This contract position involves conducting Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), clinical evaluations, and when appropriate treatment recommendations for patients referred for work hardening, chronic pain management, physical therapy, and occupational therapy programs.
We welcome applications from recent graduates who are board-eligible or board-certified and eager to gain experience in a consultative setting. The ideal candidate is either already paneled or willing to become paneled with Texas workers’ compensation insurance networks. Experience with documentation and reporting for workers’ comp is strongly preferred.
This is a flexible, consultative role suitable for physicians interested in combining clinical expertise with non-treatment evaluations, in a collaborative environment alongside mental health and rehabilitation professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) for injured workers.
- Perform clinical evaluations related to functional status, return-to-work capability, and treatment progress.
- Provide treatment recommendations when appropriate, in alignment with Texas DWC guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including LPCs, PTs, and OTs.
- Complete detailed documentation and timely reports for case managers and referring parties.
- Participate in communication with insurance adjusters, nurse case managers, or attorneys as needed.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Texas Medical License
- Board Certification in a relevant specialty (preferred)
- Experience or strong interest in workers’ compensation evaluations
- Willingness to apply for credentialing with Texas workers’ compensation networks, if not already paneled
- Ability to work independently with strong clinical judgment
- Excellent written and verbal documentation/communication skills
- Malpractice insurance (required)
