News Production Assistant

WAND-TV, the NBC affilliate serving Central Illinois, is seeking a News Production Assistant to join our dynamic news production team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to launch your career in broadcast television, studio production, and live news. Video production and television studio experience is plus, but not required. We'll train the right candidate who's enthusiastic, dependable, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities: 

Operate studio cameras and assist with live and recorded newscasts

Support studio operations, including lighting, staging, and teleprompter use

Learn the daily workflow of a professional television newsroom

Work collaboratively with producers, directors, and on-air talent

Take on new production tasks as you grow into the role

 

Qualifications:

Interest in television productionbroadcast operations, or media careers

Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions under pressure

Dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new skills

Must have flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Prior experience in video production or studio tech is a plus—but not required

*The expected pay range for this position is $15-$16 hourly.

 

WAND-TV is an award-winning station, centrally located in Decatur and is in a           tri-phenated market. The Illinois capital is to the west and the world-renowned University of Illinois to the east. The cost of living is low, recently ranked 3rd most affordable city in the country.  It has great schools and a low crime rate.

 

Decatur's central location means it's a short drive to Chicago, St. Louis or Indianapolis.
