Description
The Digital Marketing Manager (DMM) position promotes the vision of the Visitors Bureau while supporting the needs of the marketing department to generate visitation to the county. The DMM drives the Bureau’s social media policy and programs, working under the VP to align social efforts with the Bureau’s annual marketing plan. The DMM also contributes to other digital marketing efforts at the direction of the Bureau’s Creative Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Builds and executes social media strategies through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
- Uses first party data from Placer.ai to determine appropriate audiences for a variety of social campaigns/projects ensuring the efficient use of marketing resources.
- Assists in guiding and implementing, as necessary, the Bureau’s social media policy and use by monitoring trends and staying informed.
- Generates, edits, publishes, and shares daily content across Bureau’s social platforms that builds brand awareness, including but not limited to video, audio, copy, and imaging.
- Captures and edits digital media content, such as photography and video, to promote Johnston County on social.
- Manages CVB Partner Facebook groups, including member management, creating regular content, sharing relevant content, and monitoring posts from Partners.
- Composes, execute, and reports on content for all Partner and Visitor facing email campaigns.
- Assists in managing the Bureau’s other digital marketing assets including content on the Bureau’s website, blog, etc.
- Communicates with Partners regarding current Marketing campaigns to encourage promotion, engagement, and participation through the use of hashtags, shares, and active groups/pages.
- Assists in guiding and implementing, as necessary, the Bureau’s A.I. policy and use as it relates to marketing and social media by monitoring trends and staying informed.
- Maintains a well-informed working knowledge of all hotels and attractions.
- Remains updated on state-level destination marketing efforts to incorporate into the Bureau’s marketing strategies as appropriate.
- Responsible for all duties assigned by the VP of Marketing and Communications.

- Proven organizational skills with ability to manage multiple assignments, and consistent ability to prioritize activities and responsibilities within specific time guidelines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interviewing skills are imperative.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact professionally with internal and external clients at all levels within the organization.
- Customer service focus; committed to catering to the visitor.
- Ability to effectively present information to management.
- Must be able to work cooperatively in a team setting.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Flexibility to work necessary hours including evenings, weekends & holidays.
Desired Education and Experience
Three to five years of related work experience in social media management and/or as a digital storyteller.
Computer proficiency must include Google Suite as well as Adobe Creative Suite (i.e.
Express, Photoshop, etc.)
Knowledge of web design, web development, and email marketing preferred.
Experience with Simpleview CRM and CMS preferred.
Valid NC driver's license
