Occupational Therapist - Pediatric

The OT is to provide quality pediatric occupational therapy to maximize functional outcomes by addressing sensory processing skills, fine and gross motor skills, activities of daily living (ADLs), visual-perceptual and visual-motor skills, and improving overall quality of life.
In this role, the OT will split hours between the clinic and school system.
Required Education and Experience:
Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) accredited occupational therapy program.
Obtain a license from the State Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
Maintain current license to practice occupational therapy in the State of Connecticut.
Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Required:
Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups (generally Birth to 21 years of age) that will be receiving services.
Ability to remain calm in emergencies or crises.
Effectively communicate with patients, professionals, and caregivers.
Demonstrate ability to be a team player.
Exhibit ability to multi-task, or able to acknowledge, balance, and respond to situations, interruptions, and distractions.
Maintain professional appearance, positive morale, and appropriate body language.
Show good initiative, and flexibility, and take responsibility for actions.
Computer Skills: Possess the ability to work on a variety of platforms including Internet and/or cloud-based applications, electronic medical records systems, and video conferencing programs.
Physical Requirements:
Duties require frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Evaluate patients, develop goals, and implement patient plans of care for all patient types in a thorough manner and by incorporating family members when appropriate.
Provide occupational therapy interventions and patient education professionally and competently for individuals birth through 21.
Review and update patient goals and plans of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Supervise Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants according to company procedures and the State Practice Act for Occupational Therapy.
Provide clinical instruction to prospective occupational therapy students after a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience.
Communicate effectively with other professionals and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Understand and abide by Cheshire Fitness Zone’s practices, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards; including but not limited to Covid precautions and protocols.
Follow departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to:
Produce accurate daily documentation within 48 hours of the treatment session.
Complete clinic billing within 48 hours of treatment session
Submit weekly school numbers to the Clinical Supervisor by the end of each week
Submit monthly school billing within the timeframe designated by the Clinical Director
Complete plan of care updates for all patients per individual plan of care recommendations
Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and plans of care in a competent manner.
Work with a Medical Records Specialist to ensure that prescriptions and signatures have been obtained as required by company policy and the State Practice Act.
Adhere to the AOTA code of ethics, State of Connecticut Practice Act for Occupational Therapy
Improve clinical skills and enhance professional growth through reading, attending continuing education seminars, staff in-services, and department meetings.
