Travel-Ready Nanny/Governess Needed for a Dynamic Miami Family!

A high-profile family with one child (age 7) based in Miami, FL, with residences in DC and other locations, seeks a full-time, travel-ready Nanny/Governess. This role combines structured educational support with nurturing childcare, requiring extensive domestic and international travel. The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, and engaging professional with a strong background in early childhood education, a passion for child development, and enthusiasm for travel.

Schedule

  • Hours: Full-time, 40–50 hours per week, primarily Monday–Friday with two days off. Flexibility is required for evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during travel.
  • Core Responsibilities: After-school care starting August 18th, including school dop off and pick-up, transportation to extracurricular activities, and engaging in educational enrichment.
  • Travel: Frequent travel between Miami, DC, and other residences, with occasional overnights and extended periods away.
  • Arrangement: Primarily live-out, with flexibility for travel and occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Educational Support:
    • Foster academic, social, and emotional development through structured, developmentally appropriate activities.
    • Teach and reinforce reading, writing, math skills, and language exposure through reading and speaking.
    • Support social skills, including turn-taking, sharing, compromise, conflict resolution, and cooperative engagement.
    • Design and lead creative, intellectually stimulating activities to promote curiosity and cognitive growth.
    • Guide the child with intentional structure, serving as a mentor rather than passive playmate (e.g., engaging in meaningful activities beyond basic play).
  • Daily Care:
    • Oversee general hygiene and promote age-appropriate independence in hygiene routines.
    • Plan and prepare fresh, healthy meals and snacks to support long-term healthy eating habits, involving the child as appropriate.
    • Facilitate the child’s participation in housekeeping tasks (e.g., tidying playroom, bedroom, assisting with laundry, packing for trips).
    • Transport the child to and from scheduled activities, appointments, and outings.
    • Pack and prepare for all travel needs, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Maintain strict confidentiality about all family matters.
    • Assist with family errands (e.g., grocery shopping, tidying kitchen) outside of direct childcare responsibilities.
    • Act as the “head nanny,” organizing schedules for self and any additional nanny, ensuring equitable division of hours and time off.
    • Collaborate diligently with the family as a team player.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Strong college education, preferably in early childhood education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a governess, teacher, or professional nanny in high-standard households, with a background in traveling with children.
  • Certifications:
    • CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain).
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Travel: Valid U.S. passport (EU passport beneficial); ability to travel extensively, including extended periods and overnights.
  • Skills:
    • Fluency in English (additional languages a plus).
    • Ability to swim and supervise children during swimming activities.
    • Physically fit to meet the demands of travel and active childcare.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
    • Comfortable planning and preparing healthy meals and snacks.
    • Ability to design developmentally appropriate games, activities, crafts, and outings.
  • Background: No criminal record; clean background check.
  • Confidentiality: Strict adherence to maintaining family privacy.

Qualities

  • Nurturing, cheerful, and enthusiastic, with a genuine love for working with children.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the family’s dynamic travel schedule and commitments.
  • Creative, with a proactive approach to developing the child’s knowledge and experiences.
  • Strong communication skills, articulate, and poised.
  • Energetic, self-directed, and capable of engaging with an active 7-year-old.
  • Responsible and experienced, with a clear understanding of duties.
  • Passionate about travel and lifelong learning.
