At Willow Lake Day Camp, we believe in the power of summer to shape confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories. Located on the north shore of Lake Hopatcong, our 35 shaded acres are home to incredible activities, cherished traditions, and a warm, inclusive staff culture.
Position Overview
Senior Counselors are leaders in the camp community. You’ll guide a group of campers (ages 3–8), model positive behavior, and ensure each child feels safe, encouraged, and excited to be at camp. Working closely with Junior Counselors, Specialists, and Unit Leaders, you’ll help create a summer that campers will never forget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise your assigned camper group throughout the camp day
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every camper can thrive
- Support and mentor Junior Counselors, helping them develop their skills and confidence
- Assist specialists in activity areas, encouraging full camper participation
- Communicate effectively with Unit Leaders regarding camper needs or concerns
- Maintain a high level of safety and awareness at all times
What We Look For
- Enthusiastic leaders who are patient, adaptable, and committed to camper well-being
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to take initiative and solve problems on the spot
- Experience working with children in a leadership role is strongly preferred
Qualifications
- Must have completed at least one year of college by Summer 2026
- Previous camp, coaching, childcare or teaching experience preferred
- Must be available the entire duration of the camp dates (6/22-8/14)
