Wildland Firefighter and Apprenticeships

This position is part of the Forest Service wildland firefighters and Wildland Fire Apprenticeship Program (WFAP) as a developmental position to the GS-05 grade level. The position is located on a fire crew as an experienced crewmember within the fire management organization.  The purpose of the position is wildland fire suppression/management/control as a skilled firefighter on an engine, helitack module, or hand crew.  Other wildland fire related duties may involve fire prevention, patrol,  detection, or prescribed burning. The incumbent will also be involved with the maintenance and repair of firefighting tools, equipment and facilities, will receive firefighting training.
