K-12 S.T.E.A.M Lab Instructor

Job Type: Part-Time

Working Hours: Candidates will support various K-12 after school programs taking place weekdays between 2pm and 6pm. Candidates may apply for certain days that fit their schedule.

Location: Various schools across Baltimore Washington corridor

Pay Rate: $25 - $30 per hour based on experience

The Game Room Club is committed to creating engaging educational experiences for communities through the power of play. Our flagship initiative, Learn & Play, blends S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education with video games and hands-on learning to provide K-12 learners with fun, interactive, and impactful educational experiences. We inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students, helping them develop both academically and socially.

 

*This is not a childcare position.*

 

Requirements

Candidates 

must have the ability to commute to sites in their own personal and reliable  transportation. 

must be willing to commit to training sessions at least once per month. 

must be willing to commute to the office or school site for equipment pick-up for their assigned classes.

must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and pass a background check

must be responsible with handling equipment

must be personable and come ready to work and have fun!

Special Considerations

Candidates

must not be inflexible in dynamic environments

must not be uncomfortable interacting with various age groups

must not be limited to their area of specialization

 

Responsibilities

As a Learn & Play team member, you will play a vital role in delivering fun and educational S.T.E.A.M-based lessons and activities to children ages 5-18. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing and facilitating engaging S.T.E.A.M lessons and interactive labs.
  • Implementing engaging lesson plans and activities that encourage curiosity and hands-on learning.
  • Managing groups of students during sessions, ensuring a positive and safe environment.
  • Supporting students in learning while also maintaining order and enthusiasm throughout the program.
  • Implement positive behavior management techniques to redirect participants' focus.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Create a structured and positive environment with continuous opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Takes direction and feedback with ease and implements tasks with a positive attitude.
  • Complete daily administrative duties (i.e. scheduling, attendance, planning for next day, and emailing).

Experience Level

Individuals with prior experience in education, facilitation, or S.T.E.A.M-related fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates who are currently pursuing a degree in education or any S.T.E.A.M field and show strong potential are also inclined to apply.

Desirable Attributes

  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.
  • Passionate about S.T.E.A.M education and the power of learning through play.
  • Creative, adaptable, and great at problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in K-12 education, child care, or related fields
  • Ability to foster an engaging and inclusive environment for learning.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Certifications in CPR/First Aid (preferred).
  • Have a passion for technology and/or video games
  • A drive to learn a wide range of S.T.E.A.M topics and a willingness to adapt
