
Senior Small Business Consultant-Finance & QuickBooks
General Description / Primary Purpose
Under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, the Senior Coordinator – Small Business Finance & QuickBooks Consulting will lead specialized initiatives to support small businesses in financial management and accounting system setup. This role includes delivering QuickBooks Online (QBO) training, conducting financial analysis of business financial statements, and providing consulting services to startups and existing businesses. The coordinator will also assist in the design, development, and implementation of departmental processes and programs, with a focus on financial literacy and operational efficiency.
Job Functions
Coordinate and administer specialized financial consulting programs for small businesses.
Deliver monthly in-person QuickBooks Online trainings for workshops and cohorts.
Assist startups in setting up QBO accounts and guide existing businesses in optimizing their accounting structure.
Provide expert-level financial analysis of business financial statements, including:
Assessment of profitability and cash flow.
Identification of financial trends and risks.
Evaluation of financial ratios and performance metrics.
Offer direct client services including group training, individual consulting, and public presentations.
Collaborate with university staff and external partners to ensure program success.
Administer program budgets in compliance with FSBDC, City of Jacksonville, UNF, and other funding guidelines.
Support grant reporting and development of procedures for financial consulting programs.
Supervision
Received: Reports to the UNF SBDC Assistant Director.
Exercised: Supervises OPS Consultants, student assistants, and/or training assistants.
Public Contact
Extensive public contact required through individual consulting, group training, and public presentations. Will engage with partners, stakeholders, and legislators on behalf of the FSBDC.

Required Qualifications
Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Departmental Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing a small business, with demonstrated expertise in financial operations and strategic decision-making.
- QuickBooks Online Certification required. Must be a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor with hands-on experience supporting small business accounting needs. QuickBooks Online experience with small business 2-5 years.
- Proven ability to perform financial analysis of business financial statements, including evaluating profitability, cash flow, and financial ratios to guide business improvement.
- A strong foundation in small business consulting, financial literacy training, and client engagement is essential.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Business ownership 2-5 years.
- Tax preparation experience desired.
- Strategic planning for business startup, succession, and exit strategy desired.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, accounting systems, and small business consulting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software tools.
- Experience in business ownership and/or significant management consulting preferred.
- Ability to teach and train audiences in both launch and growth mode in financial literacy and best accounting practices.
