Shift Lead

We are searching for an experienced and energetic shift lead available weekends (with the occasional weekday or weeknight shift possible) to join our Swanky Crew. As a Shift Lead at Swanky Scoop, you will be responsible for the food, service area maintenance, front of house staff, and customers during your shift. Shift leaders show a high level of multi-tasking, generous customer service, meticulous attention to food safety, and a consistent high- energy. You will report to the Store Owner and be an integral part of the team.

Shift Lead Responsibilities: 

  • Greet customers as they arrive and assist with their orders, providing excellent customer service and ensuring that all customers leave satisfied and happy!
  • Manage the POS system, handling cash, card payments, and balancing the till at the beginning and end of your shift.
  • Open or close the store, including preparing the store for the day, locking up at the end of the shift.
  • Oversee staff (scoopers) during your shift, assigning tasks (waffle cone making, scooping, cleaning, etc.) and providing support and guidance as required. 
  • Scooping and preparing ice cream menu items, ensuring that all products are of the highest quality and are presented attractively. 
  • Maintain a clean and tidy store, including cleaning dishes, tables, chairs, floors, and equipment. 
  • Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed, including food hygiene, and maintaining a safe work environment. 
  • Ensure that all employees adhere to Swanky’s policies and procedures, including dress code, attendance, and punctuality. 

Qualities of a Lead:

  • Available evenings and weekends.
  • Previous experience in a food handling, customer service and/or hospitality role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time, lift 25-30 lbs (2.5 gallon tubs of ice cream), and carry out repetitive scooping motions. 
  • Loves ice cream, samples many flavors, and is committed to the customer’s positive experience. 
  • Reliable, on time, and ready to hustle for every shift.
  • Sets a positive example for scoopers 
  • WA state food worker card

Additional details:

  • Scheduling is somewhat flexible, but definitely requires evening and weekend hours
  • This is a tipped position
  • Ideal job for someone who wants to work a few shifts a week during the school year and additional shifts during the summer.
