Part-Time (~20 hrs/week) | Scaling Mission-Driven CPG Brand

About SAM+LEO

SAM+LEO is a mission-driven, vegan gummy vitamin brand supporting teen and family mental wellness. Selected for Whole Foods Market’s Local & Emerging Accelerator Program, SAM+LEO launched in 50 Whole Foods stores and is now scaling across retail, Amazon, and strategic partnerships.

We are small, scrappy, high-energy, and growing. This is an opportunity to help build the operational backbone of a purpose-led CPG brand at an exciting stage of traction.

 

 

The Role

This is a high-ownership, cross-functional operator role working directly with the founder.

You will help run the operational engine of the business, build scalable systems, manage key partners, and bring clarity to growth decisions.

This is ideal for a strong Senior Manager who wants broader scope, real autonomy, and meaningful impact without the politics of a large organization.

 

 

Core Responsibilities

1. Operations, Manufacturing & Supply Chain

You will help strengthen and scale the operational foundation.

  • Manage co-manufacturers: production timelines, capacity planning, onboarding new partners

     
  • Coordinate packaging timelines, artwork, specs, and vendor communication

     
  • Build and manage inventory forecasts across DTC, Amazon, retail, and distributors

     
  • Determine PO timing and balance growth with cash discipline

     
  • Support distributor and 3PL transitions with strong communication and follow-through

     
  • Create simple, scalable systems so we stay proactive rather than reactive

     

This role is hands-on. You will not just oversee, you will build and improve.

 

 

2. Financial Modeling & Cash Flow Discipline

You will help drive thoughtful, data-informed decisions.

  • Maintain and evolve the financial model

     
  • Monitor cash flow relative to inventory timing and expansion

     
  • Understand margin by channel (Retail, Amazon, DTC)

     
  • Help guide smart tradeoffs as the company grows

     

You do not need to be a CPA, but you should be comfortable with numbers and curious about what they mean.

 

 

3. Retail & Channel Growth

You will help operationalize retail expansion.

  • Support onboarding of new retail partners and distributors

     
  • Prepare retailer decks and ensure operational readiness

     
  • Coordinate timelines for resets, launches, and promotions

     
  • Ensure operations keeps pace with sales momentum

     

 

 

Who You Are

You are:

  • Comfortable in ambiguity and energized by building

     
  • Experienced in CPG (ideally early or growth-stage)

     
  • Confident managing external partners (co-mans, agencies, distributors)

     
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strategic thinking ability

     
  • Financially literate and thoughtful about cash flow and working capital

     
  • Motivated by building something meaningful

     

You do not need to have done everything before — but you should be hungry to take ownership and grow.

 

 

Big Plus (Not Required)

Experience with:

  • Supplements or regulated categories

     
  • Amazon at scale

     
  • Natural channel distribution (UNFI, KeHE, etc.)

     

Interest in youth wellness, mental health, or mission-driven brands.

 

 

Growth Opportunity

This role has meaningful upward trajectory. As SAM+LEO scales, there is a clear path toward Director-level responsibility for someone who demonstrates leadership, ownership, and impact.

 

 

Role Structure

 Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week
Denver or Boulder, CO preferred
