Executive Director

About the Organization

The Briggs & Barrett Project Foundation is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to providing families peace of mind through education, advocacy, and compassionate community support, with a strong focus on safe sleep for newborns.

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive and primary spokesperson of the Foundation. This role provides visionary leadership, oversees daily operations, drives fundraising and growth, and works closely with the Board of Directors to expand the Foundation’s reach, sustainability, and national recognition.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, relational leader who can build on existing momentum while strengthening systems, partnerships, and long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the Foundation’s strategic plan in partnership with the Board
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board, supporting strong governance and clear roles
  • Oversee daily operations, compliance, and organizational sustainability
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including individual giving, grants, events, and corporate partnerships
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, partners, sponsors, and stakeholders
  • Serve as the public face and spokesperson for the Foundation
  • Oversee programs and committees to ensure alignment with mission and quality standards
  • Manage communications, marketing, and brand visibility at local and national levels
  • Lead major annual fundraising events, including Big Give, Golf Tournament, and Spirit of Giving
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-centered organizational culture

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience working effectively with a Board of Directors
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting and nonprofit financial oversight
  • Passion for family support, safe sleep education, and community impact

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of senior nonprofit leadership experience (ED, CEO, COO, or similar)
  • Proven success in fundraising and revenue growth

Work Environment

  • Based in Norfolk, Nebraska (some flexibility may be discussed)
  • Occasional evenings and weekends required for events
