What You'll Do 

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, you'll play an essential role in delivering high-quality medical care while supporting our veterinarians, clients, and fellow team members. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Assisting veterinarians with appointments, diagnostics, surgeries, and dental procedures 
• Monitoring anesthesia and recovering surgical patients 
• Performing venipuncture and catheter placement 
• Collecting laboratory samples and performing in-house laboratory testing 
• Taking and positioning patients for digital radiographs 
• Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Calculating medication dosages accurately 
• Educating clients on medications, preventive care, nutrition, and treatment plans 
• Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records 
• Properly restraining patients using low-stress handling techniques whenever possible
• Monitoring hospitalized patients and communicating changes promptly
• Working collaboratively with doctors, assistants, and client service representatives to ensure efficient patient flow 
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment 

This position requires working on your feet for most of the day, lifting patients weighing up to 50 pounds (with assistance when appropriate), multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and maintaining a calm, professional demeanor during emergencies. There is no travel required. 

What We're Looking For (Required Qualifications) 

Please apply only if you meet the following requirements: 

• Current Virginia Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license in good standing, or eligible for licensure before your start date 
• Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology program 
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen 
• Excellent communication and client education skills 
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
• Dependable attendance and punctuality 
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support teammates 
• Ability to remain calm under pressure 
• Commitment to providing compassionate patient care and exceptional client service

Preferred Qualifications 

While not required, these skills are highly valued: 

• Experience in a small animal general practice 
• Surgical anesthesia monitoring experience 
• Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography experience 
• Knowledge of EzyVet or other veterinary practice management software
• Experience mentoring veterinary assistants
