Are you looking for an externship that offers hands-on experience, strong mentorship, and a supportive team environment? Come and join our team at Paws & Claws Animal Hospital!

We are a rapidly growing, privately owned, progressive, 4-DVM small animal practice located in Damascus, Maryland a quaint town known for its “small town charm.” Just 30 minutes from Washington, D.C., our practice features 5 exam rooms, digital record system, full in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, and digital dental radiographs.

We currently have two DVMs who are Virginia Tech graduates, and our entire team is passionate about teaching. We provide a tremendous amount of mentoring and will never leave you on your own—we will always be by your side. Each extern is paired with a specific doctor for the day to ensure individualized teaching and case exposure.

 

Externship Benefits:

Outstanding externs may be considered for future Associate Veterinarian opportunities after graduation.

  • Tremendous one-on-one mentoring

  • Externship pay: $500/week for the duration of externship. 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program or related degree from an accredited university
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with staff and clients
  • Dedication to ongoing learning and growth
