Job Summary

Barker's Farm is seeking dependable, hardworking, and compassionate individuals who have a genuine love for dogs and enjoy working in an active, outdoor environment. Our team provides exceptional care to dogs through our unique farm-style daycare and boarding program, where dogs spend much of their day playing, socializing, and enjoying the outdoors.

This position is physically demanding and requires employees to work in all weather conditions while ensuring every dog receives safe, individualized, and attentive care. Team members must be observant, organized, and able to confidently manage groups of dogs while maintaining a clean, professional facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and safely manage groups of dogs throughout the day.
• Monitor dog behavior and recognize signs of stress, illness, injury, or conflict.
• Maintain a safe, positive environment for all dogs and staff.
• Feed dogs according to individualized schedules and administer medications as instructed.
• Provide fresh water, clean bedding, and personalized care for each dog.
• Clean and sanitize kennels, play yards, food and water bowls, and all facility areas.
• Assist with dog check-in and check-out while providing excellent customer service.
• Answer customer questions in person, by phone, and through email.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Maintain accurate records using company software.
• Help maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the property.
• Work closely with team members to ensure every dog receives outstanding care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Passion for working with dogs and providing exceptional animal care.
• Ability to remain calm and confident while handling dogs of various sizes, breeds, and personalities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Comfortable using computers and learning company software.
• Previous animal care experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
• Comfortable walking long distances across farm property.
• Ability to safely handle energetic dogs throughout the day.
• Ability to perform physically active work for extended periods.

Schedule

• Part-time or full-time opportunities available.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Additional shifts may be required during busy boarding seasons.
