R&D Kitchen Sous Chef

As a leader and innovator as a frozen meal manufacturer in the Airline Industry, Foodservice, and Catalog Meals, Direct Food Service is dedicated to elevating the frozen meal and solutions sector. Our commitment to excellence requires us to work collaboratively as a team, to develop and design innovative solutions under the guidance of our Corporate Executive Chefs.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate within our team to help Chefs manage projects.
2. Communicate project status, progress, issues, solutions, and timelines.
3. Maintain the test kitchen schedule for samples and organizing inventory.
4. Coordinate the procurement of necessary raw materials for product development.
5. Provide support in presentations and contribute to culinary research and development ideation.
6. Exhibit flexibility and adaptability during oral presentations, adjusting to changes in projects or the business environment.
7. Stay abreast of industry trends and how they relate to our business, partners and customers.
8. Organize and coordinate sample shipments to our customers.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

1. Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize tasks.
2. Knowledge of culinary methods, techniques, and adherence to sanitation standards.
3. Flexibility, adaptability and attention to detail.
4. Good communication skills, including the ability to ask questions and follow instructions.
5. Desire to learn R&D, operations, manufacturing, distribution, and food safety.
6. Develop an understanding of our manufacturing capabilities.

Additional Requirements:

• Degree in culinary arts, Food Science, or a related field Preferred, but not required.
• 2-4 years of culinary experience.
• Comfortable working in excel for data entry purposes.
