Change Manager (Strategic Initiatives)

The Change Manager reports to the Manager of Strategic Initiatives and develops change plans, creates timelines for internal communications related to projects, advances priorities, enhances SOP processes, improves training systems and quality and ensures team adoption/usage, and measures/reports on the success of project implementations. This position is core to delivering successful projects and cross-functional imperatives identified by the 150 Forward Strategic Plan and the Executive Vice President. It will serve primarily to advance, support, and track projects and the impact of change.

 

About the Work

  • Conduct impact analyses to assess change readiness and identify key stakeholders, policy owners, and subject matter experts.
  • Apply a structured methodology for SOP creation and maintenance and help create templates for use in all Institution-wide initiatives.
  • Assist in creating, managing, and tracking project planning documentation, including project schedules, change management plans, and staff resource plans.
  • Design and craft the development of internal communication plans, as well as relevant communications and training related to projects' impacts.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on business initiatives, resource planning, and special projects.
  • Proactively identify and find creative solutions for complex business challenges.
  • Run informational staff updates and training sessions for relevant staff identified in the creation of communication plans
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and be a person who can help connect the dots between teams to identify areas for process improvement, efficiency, and collaboration.
  • Improve the quality and methods by which staff is trained.
  • Craft new policies related to data and business processes that change due to projects managed by this team.

About You

Education

  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit, or Project Management, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Preferred Master’s Degree in Business, Nonprofit, or Project Management, or a related field. Or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Preferred Certification or other demonstrated continuing education track in change management.

Experience

  • Required 3-years of project management experience with working knowledge of change/impact created by new initiatives and projects and their influence on organization operations and procedures and effective internal communication planning.
  • Preferred Proven change management success in a cross-functional and dynamic work environment and with crafting process/procedure and implementation of both.

  • Project management experience including, but not limited to, project planning, timeline development, staff supervision, budget development/management, results oriented planning, data gathering/analysis, communicating with stakeholders and partners.
  • Innovation and fluency of ideas to recognize opportunities of change, direct project work toward a future vision, lead teams toward that vision and realize desired outcomes/measures of success.
  • Adaptability to new skills at a continually evolving and rapid pace in a culture of visionary thinkers.
  • Analytical thinking to identify complex issues, use critical thinking, logic, reasoning, and relevant information to evaluate options, develop appropriate/effective solutions, and mitigate risk.
  • Problem-solving capabilities to identify the root cause of problems, use critical thinking, logic, reasoning, and relevant information to evaluate options, and develop appropriate, effective solutions.
  • Technical savvy in Information Technology Systems and how they form a technology ecosystem.
  • Logic and reasoning to understand theories, principles, and practices related to project/change management and technology, to use this knowledge to support strategies, implement and deploy new solutions, and ensure healthy operations organization-wide through analysis of success.
  • Relationship and team-building expertise to collaborate effectively across interworking groups and to ensure adoption and usage of new systems and processes.
  • Balanced self-starter and team player focused on work that builds a foundation of process and procedure, accomplishes routine responsibilities, plans for the future, and meets deadlines and goals.

About Your Work Schedule, Location, Housing, and Travel

The Change Manager will average 40-hours per week with a periodic increase of working hours (approximately 50-hours per week) required based on business needs in pre-operation and operating seasons, specifically February – July.   

This position will be based in Chautauqua Institution’s home office, located in southwestern New York.  Qualified candidates may also be considered for telecommuting arrangements. 

Occasional travel is required to various professional events, conferences, and training using personal or occasionally rental vehicles. Travel predominantly within the region in an approximate 100-mile radius. Self-coordination of business travel and occasional flights required.

About the Department

The Institutions Department of Information Technology is responsible for advancing the mobilization of technology solutions organization-wide to meet strategic goals while supporting day-to-day technology requirements. Information Technology has a small team of experienced technicians who support software and hardware systems for numerous services, departments, and programs including sales systems, video processing, and ticketing systems. Information Technology integrates applications to create a technology ecosystem that enables the Institution to expand its mission and deliver on goals and objectives.

 

Total Rewards for Our Talent

Compensation for this position starts at $60,500 - $70,000/Annual. Chautauqua Institution's competitive compensation and benefits suite includes a national health insurance network with Highmark, flexible spend (or health savings) account options, dental and vision insurance, complimentary life insurance, wellness incentives, an employee assistance program, supplemental life insurance, and long-term disability options. The Institution supports planning for retirement through discretionary employer retirement plan contribution, which has recently been 10% of gross compensation following the designation period. 

About the Referral Program

Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.
