Lateral Police Officer

The City of Dickinson's Police Department is proud to be a community-driven law enforcement agency, committed to safeguarding the safety and well-being of our residents. We are actively seeking experienced Lateral Police Officers to enhance our dedicated team of professionals.

Salary Range: $68,538 - $77,544 (based on qualifications and experience) plus $1.00-night differential pay
Sign-On Bonus: Receive up to $5,000, with an optional vacation time package!

Lateral Transfer Requirements:

  • Must hold a current North Dakota POST certification or an equivalent out-of-state certification.
  • Be in good standing with your current law enforcement agency.
  • No ongoing investigations, whether internal, criminal, or civil.
  • At least three consecutive years of law enforcement field experience.
  • Must be employed full-time with arrest powers by a state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, OR have been laid off or retired voluntarily in the past 12 months while in good standing and eligible for rehire with your previous agency.

Additional Qualifications for Lateral Transfer Program:

  • Full-time service with a municipal agency with 10+ sworn officers.
  • Full-time service with a county sheriff’s office with 15+ deputies.
  • Full-time service as a state police officer or trooper.
  • Federal, state bureau, university police, or parole/probation officers will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
