Assistant Mainframe Administrator

In support of this vision, the Assistant Mainframe Administrator is responsible for performing daily administrative maintenance tasks on Unisys Software Series MCP ClearPath servers, storage, network, and other infrastructure equipment. Additionally, this position will assist with software management, backup and recovery operations, system configuration, security, support, training, and release management.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

The Assistant Mainframe Administrator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Daily Maintenance:
    1. Establish and perform daily administrative maintenance tasks on Unisys Software Series MCP ClearPath servers, storage, network, and other infrastructure equipment.
    2. Ensure MCP Firmware is up-to-date and functioning correctly.
  • Software Management:
    1. Maintain and manage DSI VTL systems.
    2. Utilize Agile Business Suite 8.0 Developer, Builder, MCP Runtime, Business Integrator, and Client tools for various development and integration tasks.
    3. Use Microsoft Visual Studio Developer 2019 for software development and troubleshooting.
    4. Oversee the Unisys Enterprise Output Manager.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    1. Conduct backups of all systems and manage the recovery processes for Unisys Mainframe systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Create and maintain comprehensive server and systems documentation.
    2. Report and monitor third-party software issues to vendors for resolution.
  • System Configuration and Security:
    1. Maintain Unisys MCP TCPIP configuration to ensure network stability.
    2. Install, configure, and update software and patches regularly.
    3. Manage Unisys MCP security systems to protect against unauthorized access and potential threats.
  • Support and Training:
    1. Support the training of new systems and assist in the onboarding process.
    2. Provide assistance with help desk tickets and offer end-user support as needed.
  • Release Management:
    1. Plan, schedule, and coordinate software releases.
    2. Assist with the deployment of software updates and new releases to production environments.
    3. Submit items to change control to maintain accurate records and compliance.
    4. Work with Microsoft Azure DevOps for continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Education (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Skills and Experience (Required)

  • Experience in mainframe Administration and Operations, particularly with Unisys Software Series MCP ClearPath servers.
  • Familiarity of Unisys Enterprise Database Server (DMSII) Administration.
  • Experience with the Development and maintenance of Unisys Workflow Language Jobs (WFL).
  • Experience with Unisys Agile Business Suite.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Understanding of backup and recovery procedures.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Strong Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage help desk tickets and providing technical support.

 

Skills and Experience (Preferred)

  • Experience with SQL, particularly in ETL operations.
  • Understanding of backup and recovery procedures.
  • Ability to manage and resolve third-party software issues.
  • Knowledge of network configurations and security protocols.
  • Familiarity with DSI Virtual Tape Library (VTL) systems.
  • Experience with Unisys MCP Cobol85.
