Marketing and Communications Specialist

Join our team! We are hiring a Marketing and Communications Specialist for our Saint Paul Public Library (SPPL). This position is part of a three-person team focused on increasing awareness and use of the city's 14 libraries and digital services among residents of all identities and ages. Our library system is a place for lifelong learning and exposure to new ideas and is uniquely position to reflect, connect, and serve communities in Saint Paul. In this position, you will take a collaborative and values-based approach to reaching a diversity of new audiences, increasing use of the SPPL, and clearly conveying its brand.

Here's what you can expect to do:
 

  • Content Creation: Write, design, edit, and publish content for SPPL’s e-newsletters, social media, website, print materials, media outreach, and additional communication channels. Contribute ideas to the department’s content calendar that drives SPPL’s priority topics and messages.
    Collaboration and content expertise: Coordinate, triage, and respond to requests from colleagues for creative services from the Marketing and Communications team. Provide guidance on hyperlocal marketing and communication to colleagues SPPL’s 14 library locations.
    Equity and Inclusion: Apply an equity, inclusion, and anti-racism lens to your work in a collaborative and ever-changing environment.  
    Vendor management: Coordinate the advertisement, swag, and printing needs of SPPL, including developing and maintaining relationships with printers and vendors.

 Position Requirements:

A bachelor's degree is required. No substitution for education. A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Graphic Design is preferred. 

AND

One year of experience in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Graphic Design is required.
