STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Temple Sholom of Chicago

We are seeking a STAFF ACCOUNTANT who can manage a large and diverse volume of responsibilities. This position will report to the Director of Finance.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

●     General Accounting

o  Ensure integrity of accounting information by reconciling various general ledger accounts monthly

o  Analyze budget by comparing actual results to budget

o  Assist in accounting for subsidiaries Lakeshore Jewish Funerals and Westlawn Cemetery

o  Maintain Fixed Assets schedule

o  Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

o  Prepare documentation for outside auditors

o  Other duties as assigned

 

●     Payroll

o  Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls through Paycor and oversee payroll tax reporting

o  Maintain staff payroll records and benefit elections including health, dental and 401k plan

o  Improve and monitor payroll systems by creating new procedures and reports

 

●     Accounts Payable

o  Review invoices for proper authorization and coding to process for payment

o  Analyze spending trends and help to ensure cost efficiencies

o  Maintenance and issuance of 1099’s and W9’s

 

Qualifications:

o  Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or equivalent

o  Minimum two years of relevant accounting experience

o  Proficiency with Microsoft office and expert Excel skills

o  Attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment 

o  Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

o  Strong verbal and written communication skill; proficiency in English

o  CPA certificate or working towards certification a plus

o  Sage Intacct Accounting experience a plus

o  Experience with Paycor payroll systems a plus
