EMS- Software Engineer Level IV

Position Name: Software Engineer Level IV

Location (City/State/Zip Code): Colorado Springs, CO 80925

BESL is seeking a Systems Integration and Test Engineer in the Colorado Springs, CO area.

The requirement is to support Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Enhanced Monitoring System (EMS), which supports global UHF SATCOM electromagnetic interference (EMI) monitoring, detection, characterization, and recording for authorized users at the Combatant Commands (CCMD), the military Services, and Department of Defense (DoD) agencies (CC/S/A).



Responsibilities include the assembly, integration, and testing of System Under Test (SUT) of hardware components and the overall system functionality. Must execute all levels of testing, integration, systems and acceptance. Participate in test development and peer review activities with little supervision. Ensure complete and accurate test coverage.

Position requires the following:

Familiarity with full software lifecycle development processes including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and unit test

Experience with hardware and software integration

Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Experience in Test Readiness Review (TRR) and test reports

Experience in RF measurements and familiar with test equipment not limited to: Spec-A, Network Analyzer, Power Meter, O-Scope, Signal Generator

Experience developing test plans, test cases, test procedures, maintain test records, document and report discovered problems

Understand and adhere to drawing requirements for production builds

Experience updating Vender Item Description data sheets

Experience with COTS equipment and the identification of Form Fit Function replacements

Ability to travel up to 15% - must posses or able to secure a valid passport

Must be able to achieve and maintain a DOD Security clearance.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with all phases of the software test life cycle

Must be able to handle multiple processes while testing cases and develop plan “fixes”

Experience with software containerization and orchestration (Docker)

Experience with DevSecOps (CI/CD) methodology and tools, (Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify)

Familiar with the Agile Scrum development methodology

Experience with Digital Signal Processing

Basic understanding of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) systems

System Administrator experience



Education/Certifications:

2 years post-Secondary schooling/Associates Degree and minimum 4 years relevant experience

Bachelors’ Degree in STEM and minimum 2 years relevant experience or

Graduate Degree and minimum 1 years relevant experience or equivalent

Red Hat RHCSA and DoD 8570.01M IAT I (Security+) equivalent certification within 6 months of employment
