Entry Level Civil Engineer

Position Summary:

Mozamo is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer (Construction Office Engineer) in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. The Office Engineer is responsible for assisting the Resident Engineer in the administration of construction projects, which includes setting up and maintaining project files; making sure that the projects move smoothly; and ensuring that there is teamwork, efficiency, and clear communication with the project team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures project documentation is retrievable and processed in a timely manner.
  • Manages and maintains pertinent contract documents and references specific to the project.
  • Develops and maintains an organized and complete set of records and procedures for the project.
  • Ensures all contract work is in compliance with contract documents.
  • Processes all documents and work logs, including but not limited to weekly statement of working days, submittals for review, information requests, construction change orders, quantities, payment estimates, etc.
  • Monitors and enforces labor compliance.
  • Assist in preparing construction change orders and process extra work bills.
  • Supports the project lead with ensuring the contractors, including subcontractors, comply with the subcontractor policies and laws and prevailing wage laws and regulations.
  • Assists the project lead in preparing final project closeout documents, including the resolution of potential claims.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective written, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team, which includes staff, clients, and outside agencies.
  • Proficient using computer software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Efficiently resolves issues and conflicts.
  • Strong organizational skills, including an ability to prioritize tasks and work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to make good decisions using professional judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficient using computer software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
  • Valid California Driver’s License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training certificate or willingness to acquire within 6 months preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Caltrans specifications.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
