Entry Level Landscape Designer

We are seeking an Entry Level Landscape Designer with 1-4 years of experience and a passion for design to join our award-winning team at Stromberg/Garrigan & Associates, Inc. (SGA).

We specialize in urban waterfronts, public spaces, brownfield redevelopment, systemic sustainability, resiliency, and green infrastructure solutions. Locations: 

Norfolk, VA (Hampton Roads Region) 

Philadelphia Metro, PA 

Core Responsibilities: 

Project Design Work 

Contribute to all project phases, from master planning to construction documents and specifications. 

Support the creation of presentations, design conceptualization, schematic design, and technical documentation. 

Client and Public Engagement 

Prepare and facilitate presentations, workshops, and design charrettes. 

Ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality service and product delivery. 

Team Management and Collaboration 

Manage personal tasks effectively, demonstrating strong communication skills and a passion for collaboration. 

Accept and incorporate feedback in a design studio setting. 

Technical Skills and Experience 

Write detailed reports and technical narratives for design projects. 

Showcase strong hand drawing, drafting, and rendering skills, with a portfolio illustrating artistic strengths beyond computer-aided graphics. 

Create presentation graphics, 3D/BIM models, construction documents, and cost estimations. 

Identify plants, prepare planting plans, and design site grading and conveyance. 

Demonstrate experience in grading, storm conveyance, and green infrastructure design. 

Qualifications & Skills: 

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Rhinoceros, Sketch Up Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and the O365 Suite. 

Strong public speaking, writing, typing, listening, and hand drawing skills. 

Fluency in public speaking in the English Language. 

Fieldwork / ability to travel and a valid driver’s license. 

Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift 50 lbs. 

Education: 

Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an accredited Landscape Architecture program. 

Dual degrees in related fields are beneficial.
