Senior Engineering Associate
About the Position
The Engineering Analyst is a broad professional classification that encompasses incumbents engaged in a wide range of professional engineering, environmental, surveying, waste management, and vegetation management duties.
Incumbents are generally responsible for consulting, investigating, evaluating, planning, and designing a wide range of work processes and products; providing project management oversight, which may include the supervision of lower level staff; and leading, overseeing, or reviewing environmental, infrastructure and geomatic projects.
Typical job duties:
- Apply engineering and planning principles to the work performed as part of the Transportation Planning section of the Engineering & Construction Services Division.
Responsibilities generally include:
- Coordinate multi-year planning projects, including coordinating with engineering group and consultants on capital projects
- Prepare technical reports for project initiation of capital projects
- Lead the coordination of “Inform Campaigns” for construction projects and public meetings, including project webpage creation and direct-mail notifications
- Track, strategize, and prepare for state and federal grant applications to fund transportation projects
- Manage data collection and coordinate the maintenance of GIS databases to advance work supporting Towards Zero Deaths policy
- Make presentations to external partners, stakeholders, and the County Commissioners
- Policy and procedure development pertaining to transportation law; in response to new reporting requirements
- Perform public outreach and provide information to citizen groups, committees, other agencies, and the general public
- Performing other related tasks as assigned.
About the Division
ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION SERVICES: The Engineering & Construction Services Division responsibilities include planning, designing and constructing safe and efficient transportation systems for Lane County. The Division also provides high quality and comprehensive engineering and construction services to other County Departments and external public agency clients that manage, maintain, and plan public improvement programs and projects. Our mission is to provide these important services for the benefit of citizens, businesses, industries, and visitors to Lane County.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
Training:
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to area of assignment; and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of progressively responsible professional experience
- Specialized knowledge specific to area of assignment may be required.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
