AI & Robotics Data Collection Engineer (Contractor, Full-Time or Part-Time)

We are looking for an AI & Robotics Data Collection Engineer (Contractor, Full-Time or Part-Time) to manage day-to-day operations of our robots in various customer use cases. You’ll teleoperate robots, capture crucial data, identify bugs, and work with cross-functional teams to refine our AI-driven systems.

Responsibilities

  • Robot Operation: Run the robot throughout the day, monitoring performance and ensuring it meets customer requirements.
  • Issue Identification: Spot bugs or issues as they arise, promptly communicate them to the right engineering teams, and confirm resolutions.
  • Teleoperation & Data Collection: Wear teleoperation equipment to guide the robot through designated tasks; upload collected data to our AI training platform.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a safe environment for both the operator and the robot. Follow proper bring-up and shutdown procedures, including routine equipment checks.
  • Ownership & Collaboration: Take initiative to ensure the robot’s optimal functionality, while coordinating closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.

Requirements

  • Operational Ownership: Willingness to take charge of daily robot operations and performance.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to relay issues clearly and effectively.
  • Robotics Experience: Familiarity working with robots or troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Physical Readiness: Comfortable standing up to 8+ hours and handling robotic hardware.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment, open to feedback, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to work onsite at our Milpitas, CA office for 20+ hours per week.

Nice to Have

  • Linux/Ubuntu & Scripting: Basic shell scripting or Python experience.
  • ROS2 & Containerization: Exposure to ROS2, Docker, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Data Annotation: Experience using labeling tools or annotation platforms.
