Part-time Bilingual Visitation Counselor

As the Bilingual Visitation Counselor, your primary responsibility will be to observe and facilitate family interactions, providing role modeling, coaching, and effective verbal communication to ensure safe and successful visits. You will also be responsible for arranging transportation to and from visits and documenting visit details. The role of the Bilingual Visitation Counselor is to establish strong relationships with families, offering constructive feedback and support to help them make progress toward their treatment goals.
ABOUT FIRST STOP VISITATION CENTER
The First Stop Visitation Center provides services to children and parents who are referred by Contra Costa Employment and Human Services who are working toward reunification. The program hosts the visits on site and is designed to provide opportunities for caregivers to build parental capacity, strengthen family relationships, and increase successful reunification and permanency outcomes. Seneca Family of Agencies has multiple programs that provide reunification services within the East Bay and San Francisco Region.

Responsibilities
- Ensure children have appropriate opportunities to interact with their parents during supervised visits while prioritizing the safety of all participants
- Document observations and interventions during visits to prepare comprehensive reports
- Maintain open communication with the Child Welfare Worker, providing updates on progress and addressing any challenges that arise
- Provide transportation for children and families as needed, following the guidance of the Child Welfare Worker or Visitation Manager
- Orient families to the visitation program and explain visitation procedures prior to their first visit
- Consistently exhibit professional behavior, upholding Seneca's mission and philosophy
- Contribute to special events and projects that enhance the overall functioning of the visitation program
Qualifications
Required:
- Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree OR
- Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
- High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
- Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families, or working in the social services field.
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Own vehicle, valid California driver's license, and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Preferred:
- Experience with de-escalating crisis situations or navigating unexpected developments
- Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and computer skills

- Sun 9AM - 5:30PM
- Mon 12:45PM - 7:15PM
- Thu 10:45AM - 5:15PM
