QA/QC Technician

Wisoman Foods is a food manufacturing company specializing in tortilla and ethnic flatbreads.

We are seeking a QA/QC Tech that will assist in the management of quality control activities for all phases of production and personnel. Maintains close rapport with production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting food quality. Directs product quality surveillance of manufacturing areas with HACCP monitoring, conducts periodic facility inspections and may perform daily quality control inspections in critical plant areas; supervises special inspections for incoming materials, end-of-run products, etc. Coordinates with production in the monitoring of packaging lines for effective control of weights, metal detection, codes and product/package integrity

Essential Responsibilities

· Coordinate between Quality & Food Safety, Operations, R&D and Procurement to ensure effective Product Safety and Sanitation policies and procedures are designed, implemented, and maintained.

· Monitoring, documenting and reporting on finished product specifications to measure compliance with company standards.

· Conduct physical and analytical testing of finished product which include but not limited to pH testing, weight and diameter check, moisture test, etc.

· Conduct monitoring of packaging line for effective verification of product weights, metal detection, lot code monitoring and product/package integrity.

· Report the finding of food quality audits and analyze issues and implement solutions.

· Support new and improved product and process risk assessments. Ensure that all products are evaluated for Food Safety risks including allergens, contamination, etc. Inspect all incoming raw materials.

· Support the manufacturing plants, co-pack and/or suppliers by providing technical support, troubleshooting, allergen plan assessments, HACCP plan reviews and environmental testing reviews.

· Develop and coordinate actions plans to reduce or eliminate the Food Safety failures during manufacturing by employing the latest techniques and equipment available.

· Ensure action plans are developed and implemented for specific problem areas.

· Assists in implementing and maintaining SQF and HACCP Programs. Train all facility personnel on policies/procedures relating to HACCP, SSOP, GMP, SQF and SOP’s

· Reviews and updates work aids (instructions, charts, manuals, bulletins, code date calendars, etc.) essential for verification of product quality. Ensure that established process control procedures are followed throughout the plant.

· Work with all departments to prepare for external audits.

· Participates on the Quality System implementation and cooperates with the SQF Practitioner.

· Reports food safety and quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate actions.

· Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

· 1-2 years’ experience in Food Quality Assurance or related field.

· AS or BS in Food Science or related fields preferred.

· Holds a HACCP certification.

· Detail Oriented and Excellent organization skills

· Good understanding of food safety and SQF code.

· Able to work effectively as a team member and alone.

  • Shows initiative and able to work as part of a team; communicates effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
