Structural Project Engineer

SPM Resources has an immediate need for Structural Project Engineer's to support heavy civil and structural design engineering and construction projects in North & South Carolina and Georgia. Qualified applicants will have a BS in Structural or Civil Engineering, a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license, plus 0-2 years' experience on municipal development projects including bridges, roadway/highway, heavy concrete, and steel design.  Positions can be located in Charlotte NC, Charleston SC, or Columbia SC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Concrete Formwork/Falsework Design, Shoring Wall Systems, other structural concrete, steel, timber designs.
  • Support Project Manager's with bridge design and design-build activities.
  • On-Site design engineering support and inspections.
  • Able to go to the project sites and mesh with the construction crews, engineers, and project managers.
  • Basic knowledge of construction means and methods and ability to continually learn and take direction and mentorship.
  • Fundamentals of Structural Engineering (FE) license preferred.
  • Design temporary structures including temporary bridges, barge analysis, concrete, steel, girders, heavy lift plans, trestles, permanent structures,


REQUIREMENTS


• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience
• Experience with permanent and temporary structures, construction engineering, or construction labor is a plus
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or the ability to do so within the first year of employment
• Strong understanding of constructability and academic knowledge of structural engineering
• Experience with engineering design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, RISA-3D, MathCAD, Sky Civ, etc.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised.
• Legally able to work in the US.
