Construction Inspector 2
The Regional Utility Services department is seeking a Construction Inspector 2. This position performs journey-level to advanced-level tasks associated with the inspection of sanitary and storm sewer facilities, water quality facilities, and erosion control.
The Construction Inspector 2 posting will remain open until filled. The first review of applications will begin March 17, 2025.
Essential Functions

- Explains District policies, procedures, and requirements regarding inspection of developer-installed sanitary and storm sewer facilities and erosion control. Researches and answers questions regarding District policies, procedures, and requirements regarding approval of developer projects.
- Performs responsible field work including inspection and approval of sanitary and surface water facilities, vegetated corridor restoration, and erosion control measures.
- Issues enforcement actions for sites found to be in violation of District ordinances and specifications.
- Performs pre-development investigation and evaluation of physical site, vegetated corridor, and water quality sensitive area conditions. Assists with field surveying for design.
- Inputs and maintains computerized data relating to TV inspection reports, projects, and inspections.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Moderately complex construction principles, practices, and standards
- Principles and practices of construction inspection and erosion control
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws and regulations as they apply to conveyance systems and erosion control
SKILL IN:
- Reading and interpreting complex topographic, location, and property record maps
- Reading and interpreting complex utility layouts, design and construction drawings, illustrations, and other graphics
- Use of computers and computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, and for office applications
- Performing mathematical computations
ABILITY TO:
- Maintain accurate records
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including District and other government officials, builders, developers, and the general public
- Operate effectively in a team environment
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledges, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required KSAs would be:
2+ years of experience in construction inspection, including sanitary and storm facilities.
College-level coursework or specialized training in civil, sanitary, construction technology or a related field.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Upon selection, candidate must possess and maintain a valid State issued driver's license.
