Head of Academic Writing

ButterDocs is seeking a Head of Academic Writing!

We’re a writing app designed for academics. We are seeking a part-time graduate student, post-doc, or lecturer to connect us with the academic world: engage with customers to understand their needs, create presentations, organize events, and liaise with academic institutions.

Benefits

  • Fully remote side-hustle with flexible hours – ideal for grad students or part-time lecturers
  • We work asynchronously (minimal meetings)
  • Start with 10-15 hours per week, with potential for increased hours (our current Head of Writing began part-time and is now full-time)
  • $40-$50 per hour

Responsibilites

  • Give feedback on our product and help us shape the roadmap
  • Engage with fellow academics to understand their challenges and explore solutions.
  • Create concise info materials (website and videos) highlighting our value to academics.
  • Organize and run community events, including co-writing sessions, webinars, demos, and academic interviews to discuss workflows.
  • Build and sustain connections with academic institutions and departments

What you bring to the table

  • As a current or recent grad student, you're familiar with the challenges academics encounter in their writing practice.
  • You excel in communicating with academics and enjoy sharing productivity tips with them.
  • Comfortable conducting demos and hosting events in public and online settings.
  • Familiarity with academic institution protocols and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • You are self-driven and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
