Senior Accountant

This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key part in ensuring accurate accounting, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

As our Senior Accountant, you'll take ownership of our daily accounting operations and financial reporting while working closely with the Ownership Team and leadership. Your expertise will help drive strategic financial decisions that ensure the company's continued success.

Your responsibilities will include:

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP, providing analysis and commentary.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with Ownership Team.

✅ Inventory Coordination & Reconciliation

  • Coordinate semi-annual inventory counts across all retail locations with Sales Team.
  • Reconcile physical inventory counts to the RICS POS system and general ledger.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with tax laws, audits, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to protect company assets and improve financial processes.
  • Coordinate with external accounting firms for tax filings and other questions.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Optimize accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work with QuickBooks and RICS POS systems to improve financial tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in financial due diligence related to business acquisitions.

Leadership & Growth

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the accounting team.
  • Communicate with vendor credit departments and review monthly vendor statements.
  • Assist in Co-Op Marketing Billing.
  • Participate in strategic planning with the Leadership Team to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Partner with ownership and management to provide financial insights and recommendations.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).

5+ years of accounting experience (retail or multi-location business experience preferred).

✔ Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.

✔ Proficiency in QuickBooks and experience with POS systems (RICS preferred).

✔ Ability to analyze financial data and communicate insights effectively.

✔ Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

This Senior Accounting position is full-time (40-45 hours per week) and works out of our Corporate Office in New Berlin, WI.
