Pay: $1,000 planning stipend and $48/hr during the program

Groton Hill Music Center is the region's premier nonprofit center for outstanding music education, professional performances, and community engagement programs. This role is a seasonal stage manager for Groton Hill’s Musical Theatre summer program.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
A stage manager for a musical is responsible for overseeing all technical and logistical aspects of a production during rehearsals and performances, ensuring smooth execution by coordinating actors, crew, and technical elements like lighting, sound, and set changes, while adhering to the director's vision and calling all necessary cues during the show; they act as the central point of communication between all departments to maintain a cohesive production.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
- Create detailed rehearsal schedules and manage production calendars.
- Coordinate with Groton Hill Assistant Director of Operations, designers, technical crew, and actors to schedule blocking, prop, and lighting rehearsals.
- Track progress and identify potential issues to maintain timelines. Will assist in leading rehearsal breakout groups, ensuring actors are prepared and blocking is executed accurately.
- Note changes in blocking, lyrics, and stage directions in the promptbook.
- Communicate director's vision to the cast and crew, addressing any concerns
- Call all technical cues during rehearsals and performances, including lighting, sound, set changes, and special effects.
- Maintain precise timing and coordination with the technical crew.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the director, designers, actors, and technical crew.
- Address any production issues promptly and effectively.
- Facilitate clear communication between departments to ensure smooth execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidates should have a minimum of three years of stage manager experience.
