Lead Building Engineer

The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread is a private, operating foundation located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Racine, WI. We are seeking a self-motivated Lead Building Engineer who can work independently and as a team member to perform various facility related skilled and semi-skilled tasks and projects.  Responsibilities may include but are not limited to maintenance and repair services, building checks, preventative care, repair or replacement of obsolete, worn or broken building systems or equipment, and management of select contracted services. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the maintenance and repairs of the buildings’ mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety and security systems. Specific duties include (but are not limited to)
    • Chiller and boiler maintenance, including closed loop water system maintenance
    • Kitchen equipment repair
    • Plumbing repair and maintenance
    • Painting and patching drywall
    • Light electrical work
    • Purchasing inventory and parts ordering
    • Operating and maintaining outdoor equipment
    • Tree trimming and chainsaw use
    • Snow removal
  • Provides exceptional customer service when responding to guest and employee requests/complaints around safety, building maintenance and other environmental concerns
  • Other duties as needed

 

Minimum requirements: 

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in building and facilities maintenance work or mechanical trade, refrigeration card a plus 
  • Experience and understanding in building control systems and preventative maintenance software
  • Comfortable using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a good driving record
  • High school diploma or an equivalency diploma issued by a state department of education
