Staff Reporter
We’re looking for a Staff Reporter, Updates
Built In’s editorial team delivers high-quality reporting to millions of tech professionals, producing longform explainers, features and guides that help readers understand and navigate the evolving tech industry. While the core takeaways of these articles often remain relevant for years to come, the data, statistics and examples they reference can become outdated. As a reporter on our updates team, you will be tasked with updating, supplementing and expanding upon Built In’s existing content with new research and reporting.
This reporter will play a key role in ensuring the continued relevance of Built In’s reporting, while keeping the reader experience top of mind. In some cases, improvements will be limited to minor tweaks, like updating old statistics or revising display copy with new insights. Other times, entirely new sections or wholesale rewrites may be necessary. In all your work, your goal is to make each article as engaging, actionable and useful as it can possibly be.
This is a unique opportunity to be at the cutting edge of an innovative new approach to journalism — other publications experimenting within this space include Vox Media and Wirecutter. You’ll also be part of an ambitious editorial team with reporting and editing experience from publications like The Atlantic, Pacific Standard and The Marshall Project. This team reports to Built In’s VP of Growth, and is primarily responsible for building and retaining the site’s audience of tech professionals.
