
Power Plant Heavy Equipment Operator II
Job Details:
Gainesville Regional Utilities Energy Supply Department currently has an opening for Full-Time Material Handling Equipment Operator II. We are looking for an experienced equipment operator to join our team to help us supply electricity to Gainesville! You will be operating track hoes, front end loaders, and rubber or track dozers, as well as unloading coal railcar deliveries, wood truck unloading and conducting coal / wood spillage clean-up. Other duties include performing preventive maintenance and basic repair on equipment, operating and maintaining coal / wood handling equipment, and performing basic facility maintenance as necessary.
To qualify for this position you must possess a high school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), and completion of all requirements as established in Progression-Through-Training program(s) for Material Handling Equipment Operator I, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, ability, and skills. A valid Florida CDL Class B Drivers License with a Tanker Endorsement is required at time of appointment.
At least one (1) year of full-time experience operating track hoes, front end loaders, and rubber or track dozers is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience operating large industrial equipment or experience with coal / wood reclamation and material handling in the power generation industry is preferred.
An equipment skills test will be conducted during the interview process. This position may require drug testing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; and completion of all requirements as established in the Progression-Through-Training Program for Material Handling Equipment Operator II, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Employees in this classification must meet the minimum requirements established in the designated Progression-Through-Training Program. Failure to progress to the maximum level of the Material Handling Equipment Operator II Progression-Through-Training Program within the timeframes established in the program will be grounds for termination of employment.
