Job Title: FULL TIME ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II (32) (T-243 CTP)
Department: PUBLIC SERVICE DEPARTMENT (Permits/Engineering Division)
Pay Range: $23.69 - $35.23 Hourly - $49,270.00 - $73,277.78 Annually

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING: Failure to obtain or maintain job required qualifications will result in appropriate action consistent with the provision of the Appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement or Personnel Rules.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must obtain a Michigan Environment, Great Lakes and Energy Storm Water Operator Certification with in ninety (90) days of placement in the position or next available testing sequence as approved.
- Must obtain a Michigan Environment, Great Lakes and Energy Comprehensive Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Planning & Design Certification within one (1) year of placement in the position.
- Level 1 Concrete Field Technician (preferred)
- Must obtain a Michigan Environment, Great Lakes and Energy Industrial Certification within ninety (90) days of placement in the position or next available testing sequence as approved.
- Must obtain Traffic Control Supervisor (CTS) training within ninety (90) days of placement in the position or next available testing sequence as approved.
Ideal candidates should possess:
- Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or a related field.
- WITH two (2) years of experience in sidewalk, roadway or underground utility construction and inspection.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Knowledge of principles and techniques used in the inspection and construction of public works projects.
- Use of computer assisted applications used to produce automated record-keeping reports, inspection schedules or computer aided design.
- Collects connection fees, permit fees and records within the computer aided software.
- Reviews and processes vouchers and refund checks as they relate to sewer construction and connection fees
- Coordinates the drain-layer and sewer cleaner licensing process
- Conducts PASER rating of roads
- Oversees and performs the soil erosion and sedimentation control inspections for the construction sites that fall into the city’s Municipal Enforcing Agencies program.
- Assist with survey and staking
Engineering Technician II Position Summary
Engineering Technician II is the second working level in the series. Employees perform moderate to complex technical engineering tasks related to the analysis of construction materials, plans, specifications and contract administration, permit administration and inspections. Provides field project responsibilities including project inspections.
